Fire Investigators Need Help In Cracking Brooklyn Park Arson

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is seeking the public’s help in providing information regarding a fire that occurred in the early morning hours of January 1, 2012.

At approximately 04:00 a.m., Anne Arundel County Firefighters responded to a reported Dwelling Fire in the 300 block of Church Street, in the Brooklyn Park area of the County.  The first arriving crews on the scene reported smoke and fire coming from a one story (rancher type) single family dwelling.  The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages and displaced two elderly female residents, as well as, their male caregiver.  In addition, firefighters operating at the scene found racially and sexually oriented slurs painted on the exterior of the house.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire Investigators have determined this was an intentionally set fire (Arson). With the assistance of METRO CRIME STOPPERS, Anne Arundel County Fire Investigators are asking for the public’s help in solving this crime.  METRO CRIME STOPPERS is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for this ARSON.  To be eligible for the reward, tips must be called into 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587) or by texting “MCS – and your message” to CRIMES (274637) or by calling Anne Arundel County Arson Investigators directly at 410-222-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
