On December 3, 2011members of the Traffic Safety Section were called to the area of Solomon’s Island Road for the report of a multi-vehicle crash.  A 2011 Toyota Camry, southbound on Solomon’s Island Road rear ended a 2007 Ford Focus and continued into the turn lane for Stepney’s Lane when it struck a 1991 Honda Accord on the driver’s side.  The Honda Accord was split in two pieces as a result of the impact.  The Toyota Camry continued up a grass embankment striking a tree and overturning onto its roof before coming to rest.

The driver of the Toyota, Pamela Dittmar and a passenger from the Ford Focus  were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center where they were treated and released with minor injuries.  The driver of the Ford Focus, a 16 year old juvenile was uninjured in the crash.  The driver and sole occupant of the 1991 Honda Accord, Charmaine Richardson was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigation suggests that alcohol was not a factor in this crash although it is yet to be determined if speed or aggressive driving are factors.  The investigation is still ongoing.
