Police Searching For Armed man In Motel Case.  An armed man confronted a motel employee in Laurel on Christmas Eve, according to Anne Arundel County police.County police said officers were called shortly after 10:30 a.m. to the Motel 6 in the 3500 block of Old Annapolis Road in Laurel, where a man was reported to have brandished a gun.

Police: Man, 18, Shot In Leg; Bullets Riddle Car. Bullets that riddled a car and a house in Severn late Christmas Eve struck an 18-year-old man in the leg, police said.Gunshots erupted shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Robin Court, striking the man in one of his legs, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Anne Arundel County Unplugs New Emergency Dispatch System. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is at least temporarily unplugging its new emergency dispatch system after complaints that it was complicated and not user friendly.The county made the announcement on Friday.Officials said they will use the old system until they can fix glitches with the new one. County Executive John Leopold estimates that it will take about 30 days to get the new system up.The county’s largest police union had complained about the $6.6 million system and voted to send a letter to county leaders.

Man Fatally Struck By SUV On Beltway.  A sport utility vehicle struck and killed man who tried to cross the Beltway in the Dundalk area, according to a preliminary state police investigation.The medical examiner pronounced Craig Patrick Thompson, 27, of Baltimore, dead at the scene of the Inner Loop at North Point Boulevard at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, state police said.The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
