Police Clear Out Occupy Baltimore.  Baltimore police officers closed downtown streets overnight Monday as officers in riot gear cleared McKeldin Square, the plaza where Occupy Baltimore protesters built an encampment.Police closed Pratt Street and some surrounding streets just after 3 a.m. About 100 police officers converged at the square as the Foxtrot police helicopter flew above the scene.

O’Malley: $60M In Deals Signed On India Trip.  Gov. Martin O’Malley said his trade mission to India netted nearly $60 million in business deals with the state.11 News reporter David Collins said some taxpayers criticized the cost of the governor’s trade mission, which was roughly $140,000. First lady Katie O’Malley, some state legislators and more than 100 business executives got to tag along, according to Collins. The delegation, which arrived in India on Nov. 28, also stopped in Qatar.

Fedex Prepares For Busy Holiday Shipping. The Monday two weeks before Christmas is the busiest shipping day of the year, and the FedEx facility in Rosedale was a flurry of activity before the sun even came up.“Started about an hour earlier today than we do on a regular Monday,” Manager Sam Burnette said. “We have an additional 20 to 30 people here this morning to sort the packages and get them on the road.”

Lawmaker Questions Speed Camera Citations.  A local lawmaker said the state is being too aggressive with its speed camera citations.Two years ago, lawmakers approved the use of speed cameras in work zones after a number of construction workers were hit and killed, but state Sen. Jim Brochin is questioning why some drivers are still paying $40 in fines in work zones even when construction is not in progress.”If it’s about safety, let it be about safety, and when you have workers there, we’ll have speed cameras,” Brochin said.
