Miss Shirley’s Officially Opens In Annapolis

Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen and Annapolis Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Lara Fritts are pleased to announce the official grand opening of Miss Shirley’s Café.

Located at 1 Park Place in Annapolis, Miss Shirley’s had its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, December 12 and is one of three locations, the other two in Baltimore. The newest location is next to the Westin Annapolis Hotel and seats 160 guests in its main dining room, private dining room and seated bar. There is additional seating outside as well.

“The Inner West Street Corridor is an excellent location for Miss Shirley’s Café, due to its proximity to the hotel, Outer West Street and downtown,” said Mayor Cohen. “The menu, combining Southern style cooking with the Chesapeake Bay, is a perfect fit for Annapolis and will add to our town’s enduring appeal.”

Miss Shirley’s Café features Southern-inspired fare with a Maryland twist and has been recognized by Food Network Magazine’s “Best Breakfast Dish in Maryland,” and was voted

“Best Breakfast,” “Best Brunch,” “Best Lunch” and “Best Restaurant for Visitors” in Baltimore magazine’s Readers’ Poll.

“The Annapolis Economic Development Corporation is pleased to celebrate the grand opening of Miss Shirley’s Café and their first month of operation has been quite successful – a real treat,” stated Lara Fritts, Annapolis EDC President and CEO. “From application to occupancy, the Miss Shirley’s project took only 4.5 months and I applaud the Department of Planning and Zoning along with the Department of Neighborhood and Environmental Programs for their support. We look forward to Miss Shirley’s Café being a great addition to the Park Place complex business mix but also a great new member of the Annapolis business community.”

The first Miss Shirley’s Café opened in Roland Park in 2005 and was created in loving memory of Miss Shirley McDowell, a longtime cook at The Classic Catering People, a Dopkin’s family-owned catering company. The late Miss Shirley’s classic recipes offer food that satisfies the stomach and soul, including meatloaf, Texas brisket and salmon cakes.

Miss Shirley’s Café, owned by father and son team Eddie and David Dopkin, is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.MissShirleysCafe.com.
