Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi (www.jingying.org), based in Arnold, will be hold their 8th annual Open House and Silent Auction on Saturday, December 17. 2011. This year’s fundraiser supports SPAN, Inc. (www.SPANhelps.org). SPAN provides financial assistance, food and referral services to those in crisis in central Anne Arundel County.
Jing Ying’s silent auction is a bit unusual since it runs from the end of October until mid-December. The donated items are put on display when they are received, allowing plenty of time to view both the item and any fliers or business cards that accompany the donation. This allows optimal bidding opportunities, and local businesses who donate their items get lots of exposure. We also list the donors on our facebook page and web site.
Many of the items are unique, hand-crafted items, ranging from jewelry to origami. There are also gift certificates to restaurants, Ravens tickets, museum passes, organizational services, massage, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture and more. Visit www.JingYing.org for a listing.
The auction closes at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17 during the annual Open House and Holiday Party, which will be held from noon to 2:30 pm. The event will open with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance performance. Attendees can bid on an assortment of items while enjoying appetizers and beverages. The public is welcome.
Jing Ying is still accepting donations of all sizes from now until December 10. Donors are encouraged to send their donation as soon as possible, though, so it receives the longest viewing time (you may also send literature that will be included with your donation).
