Annapolis Area Christian School Sued For Sexual Harassment, Retailiation

Seal of the United States Equal Employment Opp...UPDATE: The Capital’s Heather Rawlyk has a more in depth article on these allegations which include several red flags from the Superintendent’s past which were known to the Board.

According to a story broken by the Baltimore Sun (paywalled), three former employees of the private Annapolis Area Christian School are suing the school for an undisclosed amount.

The suit names the school’s association and their board as defendants. Specifically, it states that the board did not protect three former employees when they claimed that Superintendent George J.W. Lawrence Jr. had subjected them to sexual harassment and retaliation.  The three former employees are seeking monetary damages, a change in the policies of the school and their jobs back.

The Sun spoke to Joyce E. Smithey an attorney for the employees, “As stated in the lawsuit and as confirmed by the EEOC [U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission], the school had knowledge of the inappropriate conduct and yet allowed it to be repeated time and time again.”
