MDTA Mum On Court Options.  Few people may know Maryland state law offers toll violators an opportunity to appear in court to contest infractions.Jonah Monroe’s dispute with the state’s E-ZPass toll system was lengthy and expensive. He was being held responsible for $5,500 in unpaid tolls and fees he said he didn’t even know about, WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller said.”They said, ‘If you pay it within 30 days, then we’ll waive all but $900-something, which I was still flabbergasted with,” Monroe said.

Baltimore Threatens To Cancel Grand Prix Contract. City officials said Monday they will look into terminating a contract with Baltimore Racing Development if costs from the Labor Day weekend Grand Prix aren’t paid.A study released last week said the event brought in less money than expected.”The Grand Prix generated $47 million in economic impact for Baltimore and proved valuable in terms of positive media exposure and civic pride,” said Kaliope Parthemos, the deputy mayor for economic impact for Baltimore. “However, Baltimore Racing Development has not honored the terms of its contract with the city.”

Frostburg State Community Mourns Another Student Death. A memorial service was held on the campus of Frostburg State University to remember a student fatally stabbed at an off-campus party over the weekend.Korthneigh McCoy was stabbed in the throat and head Saturday and died early Sunday morning. The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute graduate lived in northwest Baltimore.Court records obtained by 11 News show that the woman accused of fatally stabbing McCoy, Shanee Liggins, told authorities someone else did the stabbing.

Body Of Missing Man Found In Anne Arundel County. A Silver Spring man who was reported missing last week has been found dead in Anne Arundel County, and authorities said his death is being investigated as a homicide. Montgomery County police said the body of 37-year-old Manuel Enrique Diaz Gomez was found by a passerby along Race Road in Hanover on Sunday afternoon.Police said the body was found under suspicious circumstances, but they did not elaborate.
