Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation Of Two Shopping Centers In Annapolis. Anne Arundel County fire crews responded to the scene of a natural gas leak that prompted the evacuations of two Annapolis shopping centers.Crews were called to the Forest Plaza and Festival Riva centers along Forest Drive shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday after people detected high levels of gas in various businesses.People were ordered out of those businesses until the area could be made safe.No injuries have been reported.

Suspect In Mall Slayings Gunned Down By Police. Prince George’s County police confirm that a man suspected in the slaying of two people at the Arundel Mills Mall was killed Saturday morning in a shootout with police.Prince George’s County police Cpl. Henry Tippett told WBAL that officers surrounded the Forestville home of 22-year-old James Edward Coleman about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.Tippett said that Coleman emerged from the home with a shotgun and assault rifle and opened fire.

Seahawks End Up With Surprising Win. That Baltimore Ravens flopped on the West Coast, too. Steven Hauschka matched a franchise record with five field goals, Marshawn Lynch scored Seattle’s only touchdown on a 1-yard plunge, and the Seahawks forced three turnovers in a surprising 22-17 win over the Ravens on Sunday. A week after staking claim to the lead of the AFC North with a thrilling last-second win at Pittsburgh, the Ravens lost in the Pacific Northwest in an all too similar fashion to letdowns twice already this season.

South Baltimore Fire Kills Mother, Son. A rowhome fire in southwest Baltimore on Saturday afternoon left a mother and her son dead, friends and neighbors said.Crews were called to the home in the 400 block of South Fulton Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. Firefighters said when they got into the building, they found two people dead inside.Friends and neighbors identified the victims Sunday as Donna Ritter and her adult son, Ernie. Several in the community held a vigil for the couple Sunday night.
