BWI Prepares For $100M Expansion. Just off another record month for the number of passengers traveling in and out of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, officials there said the airport is expanding again to make for a better experience.11 News reporter Lowell Melser said the project is expected to cost about $100 million and take two to three years to complete.

Experts: Talk To Kids About Sex Abuse, Know The Signs. At the center of the Penn State University sex abuse scandal are children who were allegedly victimized.Experts said it’s important for parents to know the warning signs of sexual abuse, but one of the best ways to prevent it from happening in the first place is to have constant dialogue with your kids.

Blame It On The Rain: Oysters Found Dead. Maryland watermen are blaming heavy rains from Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Irene for dead oysters found north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Josh Davidsburg, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, said teams are sampling oyster bars to determine a cause, and the state could have some preliminary answers later this week. The state has a little more than 1,000 oyster bars.

Task Force Recommends Tripling The Flush Tax.  A state task force is recommending Maryland triple its so-called flush tax to clean up the Chesapeake Bay.The 28-member task force voted 27-1 to double the state’s $2.50 monthly fee on water and sewer bills next year, then bump it up to $7.50 per month by 2015.The money would cover the cost of upgrading sewage treatment plants and reducing runoff.
