New Toll Hike Take Effect Today. If your morning commute takes you through a tunnel or over a bridge, be prepared to shell out more cash.The highly criticized toll rate increase on seven of Maryland’s eight toll roads took effect Monday morning.The tolls at the Fort McHenry and Harbor tunnels are now up to $3, and crossing the Bay and Nice bridges will set you back $4. The toll plaza along Interstate 95 in Cecil County goes up to $6.Those rates will go up again in 2013.

Man Recovering After Early Morning Stabbing In Crofton. A 47-year-old man is recovering after an early-morning stabbing in Crofton.Anne Arundel County fire crews were called to Stoneham Road shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.Officials found the man suffering from stab wounds. The man, who hasn’t been identified, was taken to a local hospital. His condition wasn’t released.There’s currently no word on a suspect or possible motive.

Breast CancerAwareness Month ends with the close of October — the busiest time of what has become a fundraising giant. Billions of dollars get raised by more than 1,400 organizations nationwide.

About 3,500 Without Power After Weekend Snow. Electric utilities Monday afternoon said about 3,500 Maryland customers were still without power after a rare October snowstorm.About 90 percent of them were customers of Potomac Edison, the Maryland division of Allegheny Power.The company said late Monday afternoon that about 2,100 of the outages were in Washington County. Hundreds more were in Allegany, Carroll and Frederick counties.
