Prisoner Escapes In Glen Burnie

On November 2, 2011, at approximately 10:35 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 200 block of Dover Road in Glen Burnie for a report of an elopee.

Upon arrival, officers learned that an adult male inmate from the Ordnance Road Correctional Center in Glen Burnie walked away from a work detail at a landfill on Dover Road in Glen Burnie. Several officers, detectives and K-9 units from the Anne Arundel County Police Department along with assistance from the Howard County Police Department’s Aviation unit and the Baltimore City Police Department’s Aviation Unit responded to canvass the area and are actively looking for the suspect, 20-year-old Derontay Lee Simms.

Simms is described as a black male with two teardrop tattoos underneath both of his eyes. He was last seen wearing a white, long sleeve, long john shirt, orange jumpsuit pants and black boots. He is known to frequent Severn and Annapolis City. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is working closely with the Ordnance Road Correctional Center in an effort to locate the suspect. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
