Stepdad Arrested In Mom’s Death, Boy’s Disappearance. Montgomery County police said the stepfather of a missing 11-year-old boy was arrested and charged Thursday in connection with the death of the boy’s mother.Police said the boy, William McQuain, of Germantown, remains missing. An Amber Alertwas issued for him on Thursday morning. Officers found the boy’s mother, 51-year-old Jane McQuain, dead in her Briarcliff Terrace home Wednesday night. Investigators said there was trauma to her body, and they consider her death a homicide, but they declined to elaborate pending an autopsy.

Man Shot Inside Downtown Baltimore Parking Garage. Police on Friday are still looking for the person responsible for shooting a man three times in the back Thursday evening inside a downtown Baltimore parking garage.Police were called at about 6 p.m. to the University Plaza Garage at Greene and Redwood streets. The six-level underground garage services the University of Maryland Medical Center, the University of Maryland-Baltimore and the public, and it is located across from the School of Social Work.

How Much For College? Online Calculator Helps. Adding up the cost of a college education may now be as simple as logging onto your computer.11 News education reporter Tim Tooten said the net price calculator is designed to help students and parents figure out how much it will cost them to go to school. And in two weeks, every college and university in the nation must post the calculator on the school website.Tooten said McDaniel College in Carroll County has already posted the calculator on its website. Ninety percent of first-year students at the school received merit or need-based financial aid, Tooten said. But few of them knew exactly what it would cost to go to school.

Girl, 6, Recovering After Pit Bull Attack.  A 6-year-old girl is recovering at home after being attacked by a pit bull earlier this week.Keyniya Harris was playing in the front yard of a home in the 2300 block of Bluegrass Heights in Rosedale when the dog attacked Monday, according to a police report.Police said the black pit bull darted across the street and grabbed the little girl’s leg.”When it bit my leg, it was, like, shaking around, around and trying to bite my skin off and everything,” Keyniya said.
