Parent Involvement Conference Scheduled

Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships, the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program, and the Title I Program, in partnership with Anne Arundel Community College, are sponsoring a parent involvement conference focused on eliminating the achievement gap on Saturday, November 5, 2011.

The event, titled, “Strong Families, Strong Communities: Working Together to Eliminate the Achievement Gap,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Anne Arundel Community College, located at 101 College Parkway in Arnold.

The morning’s speaker will be Dr. John Hodge, a leading educational expert on student success. Following his address, participants will form small discussion groups and have an opportunity to share their thoughts with others. Dr. Hodge has a broad background as a classroom teacher, AVID teacher, and school administrator. He has spoken to audiences across the nation. A continental breakfast will be provided. Registration is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Limited daycare is available for children ages 3 to 12, but preregistration is required, and can be done by calling 410-222-5309 during business hours.
