Giant Goes Pink For Breast Cancer Month

Giant Food of Landover, Md. is going pink this October in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The neighborhood grocer, which is celebrating its 75thanniversary, has launched a chain-wide promotion providing customers with plenty of ways to “Buy, Get, Give” to breast cancer-related organizations in their local community.

When customers buy select items from Proctor & Gamble, General Mills, Giant Food Own Brands and other participating vendors throughout the month, they will receive a reward such as a $10 prepaid Visa card or money off of your grocery order. Giant and the accompanying vendor partner will make a donation to a local organization that supports breast cancer research, education, and awareness.

“Giant is proud to paint our stores pink and support breast cancer organizations making a difference in our community,” said Anthony Hucker, president, Giant Food of Landover, Md. “According to the National Institutes of Health, breast cancer affects  one in eight women, and during October, we’ll work together to make a difference.”

In addition, Giant will donate five cents of every pink reusable bag sold during the month to the Capital Breast Care Center and the floral department will make a 25 cent donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the sale of each pink awareness and hope & strength bouquet.  Also, Giant pharmacies are handing out breast self-examination brochures to customers.
