A September 17th Annual Harvest Beer Festival at Homestead Gardens will benefit the land preservation work of the Scenic Rivers Land Trust (SRLT). Organized by Katcef Companies and a wide variety of partner brewers, the event will offer a Souvenir etched glass mug, the opportunity to sample over 50 outstanding import and craft beers and Brewer Sessions. This in turn will support the conservation of forests, farmlands and open space land along the waterways of Anne Arundel County. SRLT has been preserving land In Anne Arundel County for 23 years through partnerships with land owners and land conservation agreements called easements. SRLT currently holds easements on 48 properties, totaling over 2,100 acres and it influences the management of thousands of additional acres.

“I am thrilled to see SRLT near its 50th easement milestone and hope that this event will contribute to preserving the next 50 properties. Solving almost all of our environmental problems comes down to what we do on the land and we are honored to have a partner such as SRLT working on all of our behalves,” said Katcef Companies President Neal Katcef.

“Easements are the most cost effective way to protect land, while preserving private property rights,” said SRLT Board President Andy Garte. Landowners voluntarily enter into agreements that limit future development of their land to ensure it will always be managed with conservation in mind. Easements often yield significant property and income tax benefits

The Festival is from 2-6pm. Tastings, Brewery Sessions, live music by Rob Levit and Homesteads Food Pavilion are open throughout the day. Among the Beer Celebrities will be; Old Dominion Brewing Company’s Brew Master Walter Trifari, Red Hook Ale Brewer Billy Smith from Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Paul Pendyck – an authority on Cask Conditioned Ale with UK Brewing Supplies.
