Giant To Offer Flu Shots

For more than twenty years, Giant Food of Landover, Md. has provided seasonal flu shots as part of its Health & Wellness initiative in a continuing effort to best meet the needs of its customers during cough and cold season. This year, Giant will offer flu shots at all 160 in-store pharmacies. No appointment is needed and convenient walk-in vaccinations are provided by trusted in-store pharmacists any time the pharmacy is open. In addition, Giant will host in-store clinics, with a complete schedule available at www.GiantFood.com.

“As part of our continued commitment to the health and wellness of our customers and the communities we serve, Giant is proud to offer seasonal flu shots this year at all 160 of our in-store pharmacies in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. Our trained immunizers will administer flu shots anytime the pharmacy is open as well as host in-store clinics,” said Dain Rusk, director of pharmacy operations for Giant Food of Landover, Md. “Flu shots are reformulated every year, making it important for everyone to receive a vaccination annually. In addition to offering flu shots, most of our pharmacies also offer a variety of additional immunizations including those that protect against pneumonia and shingles.”

The cost for the flu shot, which provides immunity against the H1N1 virus as well as other seasonal flu strains, is $30. Medicare along with several private insurance plans will be accepted. Giant has also partnered with various health vendors to offer a free coupon book worth $20 in savings to customers who receive a flu shot. Coupon books are available while supplies last.

In addition to offering vaccinations in-store, Giant Food pharmacists are available for on-site flu clinics at workplaces in the community. For more information or to coordinate an on-site flu clinic at your office, please call Julian Chun at 301-341-4449.
