Giant Food of Landover, Md. announced several initiatives during September, Hunger Action Month, to help alleviate hunger across Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. Earlier this month, together with Unilever, Giant announced a $150,000 donation to Feeding America and its local member food banks. The donation will provide more than one million meals to children and families in need.

“Over the course of our 75 year history, Giant Food of Landover, Md. has been devoted to helping alleviate hunger in the communities we serve,” said Jamie Miller, public and community relations manager for Giant Food of Landover, Md. “Our Stuff-A-Truck and Stuff-A-Boat initiatives during Hunger Action Month are ways that we can support our local food banks and help our neighbors put food on their tables.”

Hunger Action Month initiatives hosted by Giant Food of Landover, Md. include:

  • Stuff-A-Boat at the Maryland Seafood Festival: Attendees who bring a canned good or non-perishable item to help “Stuff-A-Boat” at the 44th annual Maryland Seafood Festival will receive $2 off admission, while helping support the Maryland Food Bank September 10 and 11.
