Anne Arundel County Public Schools Finally On Facebook

After an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week, it appears that Anne Arundel County Public Schools have seen the benefit of social media and have established an official facebook page late yesterday afternoon.

Throughout the hurricane, with their website out of commission, thousands turned to Eye On Annapolis and similar resources for school information.

On August 24th, we questioned if the school system was going to offer a facebook page or twitter feed and were told by schools spokesman, Bob Mosier, that there were logistical issues involved with social media; but that they were looking at the options.

In a statement today, Superintendent, Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell said, “We need to continue to explore every measure we can to reach out and convey information. This is just one more tool that the public at large can utilize to keep abreast of the important news about our school system and the impact we have not only on our 76,600 students, but on everyone in our county.”

Eye On Annapolis recommends that everyone become a fan of the page.
