AACC Named 2012 Military Friendly School

For a third consecutive year, Anne Arundel Community College was named a Military Friendly School.

The annual list of Military Friendly Schools honors the top 20 percent of 8,000 U.S. colleges, universities and trade schools surveyed by G.I. Jobs on programs and services for America’s veterans. Schools named to the list offer additional benefits to student veterans such as campus student-veteran programs, military spouse programs and more.

Among its many outreach initiatives for veterans, military personnel and their dependents, AACC staffs a Military and Veteran Resource Center on the Arnold campus in the Careers Center Building Room 107. AACC has a campus chapter of the Student Veterans of America and an active student veteran ambassador program. The college has an extensive area on its website devoted to active duty and retired servicemembers and veterans (www.aacc.edu/military).

AACC also offers student services at the Fort Meade Army Education Center and is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunities Colleges. The college participates in numerous military programs, including GoArmyEd, the Air Force’s General Education Mobile initiative, the Reserve Officer Training Corps and the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program.

The college’s Military Friend School profile is available at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/search/profile.aspx?ID=161767&searchtext=Anne Arundel.
