Annapolis Senior Center Events For October

The Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis, announces events scheduled for the month of October.

• The Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis will present “Ask the Undertaker: Leave Nothing to Chance” at 10 a.m. Oct. 11. Ryan Helfenbein will discuss a funeral or cremation service in advance. Participants can enjoy refreshments while clearing up some common myths regarding planning in advance. • The Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis, will host a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. A bake sale will be held on Oct. 26. Donations except clothing or large furniture are welcome until Oct. 19. Baked goods are needed for Oct. 26. Tables are for rent for $10 for both days. For information, call 410-222-1818.

• The Annapolis Senior Activity Center announces that a free Senior Fun Day will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Annapolis Bowl, 3057 Generals Highway, Annapolis. Center members will join seniors from the South County Senior Activity Center at the site for two complimentary games of bowling, shoe rental and refreshments. • The Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis, will take a trip to Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts for a performance of “Aladdin” by the Ballet Theatre of Annapolis at 9 a.m. Oct. 20. Tickets are $10 and van transportation will be available if you sign-up in advance. For information, call 410-222-1818.

• A one-hour seminar, “Will You Outlive Your Money? Protect Your Financial Freedom,” will be presented at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis. The free seminar will include how to have a guaranteed income for life, how to turn your IRA into a tax-free account, how to avoid market risks, how to reduce your taxes, and how to avoid eight retirement pitfalls.  Register at the front desk.

• Document Roadmap, a digital document storage company, will present “Scanning Important Documents: Why It’s A Good Idea and How to Do It” at 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis. The interactive educational discussion will include how to scan important documents even if you don’t own a computer. Attendees will be given a booklet which outlines the importance and benefits of scanning and how to get started. Pre-register at the front desk. Call 410-222-1818 for information.

• The Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., Annapolis, will have a Halloween party with a costume contest for all ages on Oct. 31. The fun begins at 10 a.m. Grandchildren will parade and trick or treat from classroom to classroom. Light refreshments will be served. Sign up at the front desk. Call 410-222-1818 for information.

• The Trip Committee at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave., is accepting reservations for a variety of day trips in 2012. These include Celtic Nights with entertainers from Ireland on March 18 in Gettysburg, Pa.; and in Washington D.C.,  a cruise on the Odyssey and a visit with the cherry blossoms on April 4, a tour of Hillwood Estate and Gardens on May 3, and a tour of the Holocaust Museum on July 24. Lunch is included with all of the day trips. Fees vary. The trip desk is open 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.
