Anne Arundel County Fair, Fall each year

The Fair is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization bringing family entertainment, competition and education to people of all ages in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas. See web site at www.aacountyfair.org. Volunteers, age 21 and up, are needed for a variety of positions during the Fair and year round. ·                     Office Assistant/Receptionist: One person is needed to answer phones, perform light office duties and provide staff and attendees with event information during Fair week (9/14-9/18). No typing or computer skills are necessary. Contact Sharon Gertz at number or email above.

·                     Handyman: Volunteer needed year round for Fairgrounds maintenance such as mending fences, and light repair work. Leave message for Tom Collison or Walter Baase at number or email above.

·                     Researchers/Surveyors: Need a small group (5or 6) volunteers are needed on 9/16/11-9/18/11 and to collect survey information from fair attendees (as they are leaving) to measure success rate of the Fair. ·                     Promotion Assistants: Six or seven volunteers are needed to assist Entertainment Chairperson (Denise White) during Fair week (9/14-9/18) with registration, organization of contest participants, and execution of live events? ·                     Restroom Monitor: One (1) volunteer is needed to see that restrooms are clean and stocked with supplies, and to thoroughly clean restrooms during nighttime or early morning hours. Contact Debbie Woolford K. at number or email above.

Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management

The AA County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) coordinates resources and facilitates the response and recovery efforts of local, state, federal and private agencies in emergencies.

·                     1:00 pm, Thurs., Sept., 15, 2011, U.S. Naval Academy Disaster Exercise: The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis is conducting a full-scale exercise for which they need about 60 volunteers, several of which will be moulaged. Participants will have to be at the academy at 1100 hours because of security for entry into the Academy and to be moulaged. ·                     10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Sat., Sept. 10th, 2011, Second Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair: The Anne Arundel County and City of Annapolis Offices of Emergency Management and Citizen Corps Council are holding their Second Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Glen Burnie Improvement Association?s fairgrounds on Post 40.  There will be equipment from the Police and Fire Department as well as many other organizations on display at the event. Games, food, demonstrations and information will be available. Volunteers are needed on the day of the event to help with set up and take down and other duties during the day. Bello Machre

Volunteer your time and talent and be a part of our growing Bello Machre family.  Bello Machre provides loving homes and support to people with developmental disabilities. A wide range of opportunities are available throughout Anne Arundel County.  Orientation training is provided and volunteers 18-years-old and up must pass a criminal background check. Some current specific volunteer needs include:

·                     Caring Hearts Special Events Committees: Motivated volunteers are needed to attend regular committee meetings, assist with coordination of special events such as Make a Difference Day.

·                     Green Committee: Creative and energized volunteers are needed to propose green projects, assist with planning green events, and attend monthly meetings held on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 1?2 pm.

·                     Musician Needed: We are seeking talented and creative guitarists to volunteer their time (at least a 3-month commitment) teaching guitar basics. Make a difference in the lives of those with developmental disabilities. Flexible schedule is available.

·                     Wed., Sept. 21, 2011, 27th Annual Bello Machre Golf Tournament: Sponsors, participants, and volunteers are being sought for this fundraiser being held at the Queenstowne Harbor Golf Course in Queenstown, MD. Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, Dundalk, Halethorpe, and Pasadena ReStores

At the ReStores, volunteers are needed for sales, stocking and receiving merchandise, picking up donated merchandise, planning pick-up routes, phone work, etc. Restore now has three locations: 1. 8101 Ft. Smallwood Road, Pasadena (Store Hours: Mon.?Sat.: 9 am-5 pm-call 410-437-7755);   2. 505 Kane St., Baltimore (Store Hours?Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm-call 410-633-0505); and 3.  3741 Commerce Dr., #311, Halethorpe (Store hours: Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm-call 443-297-5141). Marylanders Plant Trees Program

This program under the Governor?s Smart, Green & Growing initiative involves State agencies partnering with businesses, communities and citizens to help fund and plant new tree cover.  The program offers Maryland citizens a $25 discount on the purchase of select trees through participating vendors, as well as an opportunity to calculate the benefits of the trees being planted and register them on line to help track our progress. From advice on what, where and how to purchase and plant, to printable coupons and calculating benefits, citizens will find just about everything they need at the Marylanders Plant Trees Website at www.trees.maryland.gov. Maryland Federation of Art

Through exhibitions and organizational activities, the Maryland Federation of Art provides opportunities to encourage and support artists in their work and to promote awareness of the visual arts in the community at large. Volunteering at the MFA is a great way to network with peers and creative types, learn new skills and use old ones, and meet new friends. Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (UCF)

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults provides free support programs, education, and resources to benefit young adults affected by cancer, as well as their family and friends, while promoting awareness and prevention of cancer.  The UCF relies on volunteers to help us spread our message hope and fight. If you have free time and are committed to enhancing lives by supporting, educating and connecting young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer please contact us.
