The Gridiron Tackles The Diamond

The Bowie Baysox announce today a Football Kickoff Party at Prince George’s Stadium Saturday, Aug. 13, as the team takes on the New Britain Rock Cats at 6:35 p.m. The event features a grassroots community outreach and guests representing the University of Maryland, the United States Naval Academy, and the Baltimore Ravens, as well as a fireworks display following the game.

Baysox Office Manager Kate Milstead is coordinating the event. “At the youth levels, you tend to see a lot of crossover between sports,” Milstead said. “Kids play sports all year-round, often a different one each season. It’s great to give local youth the opportunity to catch a game, even if it’s not their primary sport, and give them something to motivate them in their own lives and playing careers. Promoting healthy, active lifestyles in area youth is a priority of ours here at the Baysox and we are excited to promote physical activity and fitness in our community.” Milstead also coordinates the Baysox PLAY TODAY! campaign.

The Baysox donated over 9,000 tickets to local youth football and cheer programs in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties for the event. Family and friends of local youth football players and cheerleaders who received tickets should contact their coaches or league commissioners for special discount offer codes or contact Milstead at (301) 805-6000. Discounted tickets are available through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11.

The Baysox encourage fans to show support for their favorite football teams across any level of the sport from the youth level to the collegiate and professional levels by wearing their favorite team’s jersey or colors.

Baysox Baseball – We’ll Knock Your ‘Sox Off. The Baysox 19th season as the class Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles is underway. Parking is free at every Baysox home game and tickets are now available at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox box office at (301) 464-4865.
