Shooting In Crofton

Anne Arundel County Police have just released information about a shooting this weekend in Crofton, Maryland.

Sunday Shooting In Crofton

On August 7, 2011, at approximately 2:22 a.m., officers from Western District responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Judicial Way and Lower Court in Crofton. Witnesses indicated hearing gunshots in the area of the intersection and also observed a subject being helped into a vehicle that fled the scene.

Officers soon located evidence at the scene that indicated a shooting had taken place. An officer located the victim at approximately 2:40 a.m. in the area of the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where the victim’s friends attempted to drop him off for treatment. Western District and Criminal Investigation Division investigators were notified and responded to continue the investigation.

At this time, it is known that the 22-year-old male victim had been in attendance at a party at a residence on Lower Court prior to the shooting that took place outside. Further investigation revealed that two groups of people known to each other with an ongoing dispute were at the party and the victim was involved with one of the groups.

Victim In Critical Condition

After initially being attended to by medical personnel at BWMC, the victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for additional treatment. He is currently listed in critical, but stable condition. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and this is not believed to be a random act of violence.
