Thousands of Marylanders who lost electricity in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene may have to wait a week for full restoration.One person was reported dead in connection with the storm. Officials said a tree fell in Queenstown, Queen Anne’s County, knocking a chimney into the sunroom of a house on Quarter Creek Drive, killing Anne Bell. The 85-year-old woman and her son had gone into the sunroom after they lost power, police said. Bell was struck by debris, causing severe trauma. Her son was also injured. He was treated and released from a local hospital.
Civil War Items Stolen From Arundel Man’s Home. An Anne Arundel county man said he’s had thousands of dollars’ worth of Civil War memorabilia stolen from his home.Jason Bannis told 11 News reporter Rob Roblin that he is a Civil War collector and that his specialty is confederate memorabilia.He said confederate money was among the items stolen recently. He said some of the bills were worth as much as $5,000 to $10,000.Bannis said he knew something was wrong when he found that his sliding glass door had been opened.
