Expanding Your Horizons Conference For Girls To Be Held At USNA

Registration is now open for the Expanding Your Horizons conference for middle school-aged girls scheduled Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Naval Academy.

This day-long event is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research and will include hands-on activities to nurture interest in science and math courses in order to encourage girls to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.  Registration and attendance is free, but limited to the first 240 girls who register.

EYH participants will attend three different workshops during the day and get to engage in hands-on activities including biometrics, forensics, boat-building, underwater exploration, optics and energy.

“We are very excited about partnering with ONR and EYH to host this workshop for middle school girls. Our female faculty and midshipmen will be out in full force to make sure the girls experience how amazing science and engineering can be!” said Naval Academy Professor of Mechanical Engineering and EYH Conference Coordinator, Angela L. Moran, Ph.D.

In conjunction with the Office of Naval Research, the Naval Academy is scheduled to hold this event for the next three years.
