Save the date, Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, for the DisABILITY Awareness Day 2011 to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Westfield Annapolis Mall, in the atrium located next to the Crate & Barrel store. The annual event is sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues in partnership with Westfield Annapolis Mall.
You’ll find information and help on transportation, employment, housing, recreation, and access to services for those with disabilities. Accessibility and Employer Awards will be presented by County Executive John R. Leopold. The DisABILITY Awareness Day award will be given to Carolyn Fiume, an advocate for children with disabilities, who has dedicated her life to creating a network of support and resources for families and educators alike.
The public is invited to attend. For information, call the office of the county coordinator of the Americans with Disabilities Act at 410-222-4383. TTY users can call via Maryland Relay 7-1-1. Call at least seven working days in advance if any special accommodations are needed.
