Back To School Expo

The Anne Arundel County Public Schools Office of School & Family  Partnerships is hosting the Back-to-School Expo to provide parents and students  with important information as they prepare to return to school later this month. From 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 13, AACPS employees will  be distributing backpacks and school supplies, conducting learning activities, sharing information, and answering questions at the Roger W. “Pip” Moyer  Recreation Center on Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.

Information about school,  instructional programs and other areas of interest – including parent workshops,  transportation, food and nutrition, and ESOL – will be provided. The Anne  Arundel County Public Library, Annapolis Fire Department, and other groups will also engage participants through demonstrations, screenings, games, and other activities.

“The Back-to-School Expo gives us the opportunity to help our families get a great start for the new school year,” said Teresa Tudor, administrator of the Office of School & Family Partnerships. “The outpouring of support and generosity shown by local businesses and agencies has made this event the biggest one yet – helping more families to be in better positions for their children to learn.” More than 500 backpacks with school supplies will be distributed on a first- come, first-served basis. Students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade must be present in order to receive the backpacks. Free breakfast, gifts, and coupons from local merchants will also be available. In addition, there will be hourly drawings for shopping, entertainment, and food gift cards.
