District 7620 of Rotary International will host the Rotary Foundation Seminar and Super Summit from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sep. 10 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West St., with a focus on six project areas. District 7620 encompasses Rotary Clubs in central Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Topics of the seminar will include Basic Education and Literacy, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Maternal and Child Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic and Community Development, and Disease Prevention and Treatment. Rotarians and friends will be able to see what Rotary Clubs throughout District 7620 are doing in these areas locally and globally, with displays featuring district and global projects.
The guest speaker is Joe Mulkerrin, Regional Rotary Foundation Chair, who will lead a Future Vision workshop. “We’re especially fortunate to have Joe Mulkerrin as our guest speaker this year,” says Rachel Blair, District Grants Chair and a member of the Rotary Club of Annapolis, MD. “Our annual Super Summit highlights Rotary Foundation programs and lets Rotarians and the general public learn about the Foundation’s goals, local and international humanitarian projects, scholarship and fellowship programs, and our ongoing efforts to eradicate polio,” she says.
Peter Kyle, a former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar and a member of the Rotary Club of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., will discuss the Rotary Peace Scholars program and provide an update on their activities during a panel discussion. Dr. Carl Schneider, a member of the Rotary Club of Annapolis, MD, will introduce the District Scholars from Italy and Japan. There will be a report on the progress of the joint effort by Rotary International, the United Nations, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate polio. The event will also provide guidance to Rotary Clubs on the process of applying for grants for global projects.
