Annapolis Optimist Club

The Annapolis Optimist Club is a local chapter of the international service organization which supports many youth based programs including sports, scouts, camps, charitable campaigns, teaming youth with law enforcement agencies, and more. Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre

Centro de Ayuda (Center of Help)

The Center of Help is a non-profit which provides a variety of social services to the Latino community in the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County with support offices in Annapolis and Glen Burnie. The Center is seeking a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to serve from Sept. 14, 2011 through Jul. 12, 2012; this is an AmeriCorps position with Volunteer Maryland, a program of the Governor’s office. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit and manage volunteers to provide support to low income Latino community in Anne Arundel County through supporting caseworkers, providing life skills workshops, ESOL, job readiness and GED tutors and mentors, and volunteers that will work to provide outreach to the community to provide information and referrals for the services provided through the Center of Help. Friends of Back Creek Nature Park

This nonprofit organization assists the City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department with the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the park. Volunteers of all ages are welcome from supervised youngsters to adults, including Master Gardeners. There are a myriad of other opportunities for participating in and supporting the BCNP mission, including board and general members, volunteers, project leaders, donors, partners, sponsors, etc.  Projects can be carved out for volunteers who want to come by at their convenience and take responsibility for a particular sub-task or project. Friends of Colonial Players

Have you always wanted to be part of the theater, but didn’t know how? Colonial Players of Annapolis has volunteer opportunities for a variety of interests!  Box office, ushering , set painting and construction, stage crew, costumes, handling properties, helping with lights and sound, Stage Managing, arranging parties and other social events, promoting shows and the theater, and more! Friends of Quiet Waters Park

The non-profit organization supports the operation of the park and the events that take place there. Volunteers, age 15 and up, are needed throughout the year for a variety of tasks to support events such as Earth Day in April, Summer Concert Series from Jun.–Sept., Howl-O-Ween Bark ‘n Bash in late Oct., and the Arts Festival held in the fall each year. Mentor, Encourage, Lift and Love, Inc. (M.E.L.L.)

M.E.L.L. provides parenting skills and resources to male and female teen parents. Volunteers are needed as guest speakers and mentors. We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator to facilitate monthly group mentoring/ support groups. Our Daily Bread

The largest soup kitchen in Maryland is located in downtown Baltimore and serves a 780+ hot lunches 365 days a year and breakfast on weekday mornings.  Volunteers as young as 15 (14 when accompanied by an adult) are needed to assist in serving lunch from 9am-1pm daily.  Donations of casseroles, cookies, desserts, canned foods, baby food, diapers, and seasonal decorations are needed.  Contact 443-986-9031or [email protected] for more information.  Website: www.catholiccharities-md.org

Robert A. Pascal Youth & Family Services

The organization’s mission is to promote optimal social, emotional, and mental health by providing accessible, innovative, and comprehensive individual, family, and group counseling as well as educational services to diverse communities.  There is an immediate and continuing need for volunteers, age 16 and up, with typing skills for data entry between 9 am–9 pm on weekdays. Rob’s Barber Shop Community Foundation

This nonprofit foundation features projects that provide no-charge grooming services for individuals who cannot afford to attend the barber or beauty salon. Volunteers, minimum age 16 are needed for administrative tasks. Volunteer barbers and hairstylist are also needed to serve homeless and other needy persons in Odenton and surrounding areas. Salvation Army

Food Pantry – Volunteers are needed to drop off food donations Monday through Friday for the Salvation Army’s food pantries in Annapolis and Glen Burnie. Suggested food items include nonperishable canned goods and boxed food. Donations of toiletries are also welcome. Groups that hold food drives can make arrangements to have the food picked up. Solid Rock Community Development Corporation

This non-profit organization partners with organizations to create a stronger network of resources for individuals of all ages, backgrounds and circumstances: academically, financially, professionally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Volunteer mentors, tutors, and educational resources are currently needed. Donations of computer equipment are also being sought.
