Authorities Continue To Search For Highway Attacker. Police continued the search Thursday for a man who authorities said attacked a speed enforcement vehicle with a hammer on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on Wednesday morning, which closed traffic on the busy highway for several hours.Maryland State Police said they began receiving calls around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday reporting shots fired by a man armed with a long gun along the highway. State police later reported no shots were fired, and there were no injuries.

Hall Of Fame Baltimore Colts Player Dies. Former Baltimore Colts tight end John Mackey has died.The retired Hall of Famer died Wednesday night in Baltimore.Mackey had been battling dementia for several years, WBAL-AM reported Thursday.The Hall of Famer grew up on Long Island and played for the Baltimore Colts from 1963 to 1971. He played for the San Diego Chargers in 1972.Mackey was a principal in one the most famous plays in NFL championship history during Super Bowl V in 1971, catching a pass from John Unitas after the ball first bounced off the hands of receiver Eddie Hinton and then grazed the fingertips of Cowboys All-Pro defensive back Mel Renfro.

Some Marylanders saving for a beach vacation have ultimately learned the rental they secured doesn’t really exist or was never available to rent.Getting burned at the ocean has taken on a whole new meaning. Becky Ray, of Parkville, told the WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team that she had her eye on a three-bedroom Ocean City condominium that she found on Craigslist. She said she quickly contacted the individual who posted the ad.

Verizon To Pay $20 Million To Settle Discrimination Lawsuit. Verizon will pay $20 million to resolve a lawsuit over its treatment of disabled employees who missed work as a result of their disabilities. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced the settlement Wednesday.In the lawsuit filed in Maryland, the EEOC said Verizon unlawfully denied reasonable accommodations to hundreds of employees who had to miss work because of a disability.The EEOC said the company violated the Americas With Disabilities Act by not accommodating disabled employees, disciplining or firing them instead.
