EMS Cheating Probe Focuses On Instructor. An investigation into cheating allegations at the Baltimore City Fire Academy EMS training program has shifted to a sole instructor who had access to confidential state testing materials, the WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team has learned.On Tuesday, the I-Team reported that the training program was suspended pending the outcome of a cheating investigation. All EMS training instructors at the fire academy were put on administrative leave the next day.
Obama To Make Debt Crisis Case At MD Town Hall Today. President Barack Obama is taking his case to the public as the clock ticks down to an Aug. 2 deadline to raise the government’s borrowing limit or default on U.S. obligations. The president will hold a town hall meeting Friday morning at the University of Maryland, College Park campus.It’s a quick trip from the Beltway but will be Obama’s first public appearance this month outside what he calls the White House “bubble.”
Truck Overturns At Conowingo Dam. A loaded moving truck overturned Thursday afternoon at the entrance to the Conowingo Dam, police said.Maryland State Police Lt. Charles A. Moore issued a statement indicating that the truck overturned at about 1:45 p.m. on Route 1. He said the truck was carrying 26,000 pounds of cargo.Crews were working to clear the debris and the truck from the road way.
Honor Student, Basketball Standout Fatally Shot. A gunshot to the chest ended the young life of a high school honor student and basketball standout Wednesday afternoon in what may have been an accidental shooting.Marcus Harvell was shot at about 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Brooklyn Homes Housing Project in the 900 block of Herndon Court. The circumstances remain under investigation by detectives who are conferring with prosecutors to determine whether the shooting was accidental. Police have interviewed at least two people associated with this case.
