Comedy Festival In Annapolis This Week

The Annapolis Comedy Festival is rolling into town this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 14th to 16th. No need to head to DC or Baltimore because this time, the comedy is coming to you!

For our readers, you can take a $5 discount off of each show (except the ones at Ram’s Head). To get your tickets, head over to the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts website to purchase the tickets.  Choose your performance and click “buy tickets.” At the top of the page, enter the word COMEDY in the box and click unlock—and then be sure to send us a thank you note like your grandmother taught you!   If you have any questions, give them a call at the Box Office: 410-280-5640, M-F, 12pm – 5pm. Tickets are $15 but we have for you at $10!

The festival will feature Improv performers from Chicago’s Second City; Charleston, SC’s Theatre 99; Baltimore’s Improv Group; and New York’s Upright Citizen’s Brigade. There will also be stand up comedy with performers from New York and Baltimore.

The Performances:

Thursday night at the Westin Hotel with an Improv Jam featuring an All Star cast from each of the groups as well as the Baltimore Improv Group. This is a great opportunity to see funny at it funniest.

The Featured Improv Performances will be held Friday night at O’Callaghan’s Hotel and Saturday night at the Loews Hotel.

The Stand Up performances on Friday and Saturday will be at the Metropolitan Kitchen and Lounge on West Street.

From Chicago

• The Shock T’s – Second City Group. Musical sketch comedy/improv troupe. Spinal Tap goes unplugged as acoustic singer song writers.
• Maximum Brain Squad – Nerdy synth rap meets outer space. What?

From Charleston, SC

• Big Dicktionary – This long form improv team will take a word from the audience and have you laughing , crying and laughing at people crying.
• Also joining Big Dicktionary will be Gym Window from Baltimore’s Improv Group.

From New York

• Outlook of the Poet – These guys are regulars at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and have been rocking the Improv World in New York. Get ready Annapolis.

Stand Up

• And if Stand up is your thing come and see a lot of guys being funny from New York Tim Hoeckel and Jimmy Merritt and from Baltimore Tommy Sinbazo, T. Brad and Bill Monoghan at the Metropolitan Kitchen and Lounge’s 2nd Floor Comedy Theater.
