Benefit For Recreation Deeds For Special Needs

A benefit concert to raise funds to help with programs for youth with special needs will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30,  at Wild Willy’s Rock House and Sports Saloon, 2072 Solomons Road, Annapolis, near the Annapolis Towne Center. The public is invited to attend to help raise funds for the non-profit Recreation Deeds for Special Needs.

Recreation Deeds for Special Needs is a nonprofit friends and family organization established to provide camp scholarships, adaptive equipment, training and volunteer support to youth with disabilities. Public support allows special needs youth to attend summer day camp, where they are given the opportunity to socialize, learn healthy living skills, be active, and above all, have fun in a caring and safe environment. They also participate in year-round adaptive sports programs and other social activities. Anne Arundel County this year opened an adaptive sports program at Lake Waterford in Pasadena, with challenger baseball, lacrosse, soccer, flag football and adult softball.

The evening lineup includes Maybe Not Even, Dean Rosenthal’s 4-piece Racket, Mike McHenry, Sweet Leda, Uncle Jack and others. Tickets are $5 at the door, and a silent auction will have items from sports tickets to services from the community. Regular menu items will be sold.
