Baked By Yael Celebrates Summer With Expanded Hours And A New Flavor

Many people think of malls as a place where only giant corporations thrive, but Baked by Yael defies that notion, selling its cake pops and cupcakes at the Westfield Annapolis Mall.  On July 2, Baked by Yael – a woman-owned baking business – will expand its hours at the Annapolis Mall to Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, Sunday 11am-7pm.  To celebrate the new hours and the arrival of summer, Baked by Yael has introduced a new cake pop flavor:  strawberry.  Made with real strawberries, the slight tartness of the strawberry cake pop complements Baked by Yael’s sweeter cake pop flavors:  red velvet, birthday cake, and oreo.

Baked by Yael’s expanded hours also coincide with the July 4th holiday weekend.  To celebrate, Baked by Yael is featuring its festive Patriotic Pops.

Despite national skepticism about the economy, Baked by Yael started as an online order baking business in 2010 and has now grown to include a cart in the Annapolis Mall, located in front of the Build-a-Bear Workshop.  While Yael Krigman, founder and baker, still uses Facebook, Twitter, and email to promote her menu and encourage orders in the D.C. area her mall cart has allowed her to also reach baked-good lovers in Annapolis.

“I think it’s such a creative idea to sell cake pops from a mall cart – and so convenient,” comments Baked by Yael customer Hannah Turner.  “I love supporting woman-owned small businesses and the fact that Baked by Yael’s cake pops and cupcakes are positively divine makes it easy to do that.”

Baked by Yael’s products contain no preservatives and are baked by Krigman herself in a licensed commercial kitchen in Washington, DC.  Having grown up in the Annapolis area (a 1998 graduate of Broadneck High School), Krigman is excited to return to serve her hometown.

To Krigman, “baking is an emotional experience for me.  I put so much of who I am into it.  I love the act of baking, but I especially love seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they bite into one of my cake pops.  When my customers are happy, I’m happy.”

Baked by Yael is a woman-owned small business.  It specializes in cake pops, hand-rolled bagels, and other delicious baked goods.  Baked by Yael serves the Washington DC community as well as Krigman’s hometown of Annapolis.  For more information please visit www.bakedbyyael.com.  Additional information is also available on Facebook and Twitter, keyword “Baked by Yael”.
