2 Anne Arundel County Locals Launch New Fan-Based Business Just In Time For Football Season

James Bowerman and Blake Tarleton, both 2002 graduates of Chesapeake High School and self-proclaimed football enthusiasts, announce the launch of MARYLAND’S TEAM™, a brand for Ravens fans who recognize the state of Maryland is home to only one professional football team. Having both been raised in Anne Arundel County as avid Baltimore sports fans, Bowerman and Tarleton recognized there was a crucial need to unite fans throughout Maryland through the use of a distinctive visual item during games. The item needed to be a symbol of pride that held greater meaning than just some cheap, old “towel”.

The pair came up with the idea for the Maryland’s Team™ “Fan Flag”, which boasts Maryland’s state flag, as well as the Ravens’ powerful purple-and-black color combination. “Our team is not from D.C. or Pittsburgh; our team is from Baltimore, and Baltimore alone. Maryland’s Team’s focus is on building a community where fans can interact with other fans by participating in discussions, contests and giveaways,” stated President Blake Tarleton.

On July 11, 2011 the Maryland’s Team™ official website, www.marylands-team.com, was launched. Within coming weeks, fans will be able to show their pride for the state of Maryland and Maryland’s professional athletic teams by purchasing the “Fan Flags”, shirts and other items via the online store. “Maryland’s Team™ is a brand committed to providing quality products and apparel to enhance fan excitement in and around M&T Bank Stadium, as well as across their home state. It is our goal to unite Baltimore Ravens fans, who take great pride in their home TEAM, and their home STATE,” noted Vice President and current Glen Burnie resident James Bowerman.

Lockout or no lockout, Maryland’s Team promises to make their presence known throughout the upcoming football season. This is about the fans, after all, not the players. Without the fans, there would be no NFL, and there certainly wouldn’t be Maryland’s Team™.
