ASGT’s Performance Season Continues With “Wonderettes”

| June 16, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre will follow its sell-out production of “Chicago: The Musical” with “The Marvelous Wonderettes”, a musical blast from the past featuring girl-group songs of the 1950s and 1960s. The show opens June 30th and runs Thursdays-Sundays at 8:30 pm through July 24th.

Set at the 1958 Springfield High School prom, the show features four local women as “The Marvelous Wonderettes” – a singing group with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts.  The cast includes Jamie Erin Miller of Arnold portraying “Missy”, Colleen Kerrigan of Severna Park playing “Betty Jean”, Katie Gardner also of Severna Park as “Cindy Lou,” and Jennifer Grimes of Edgewater as “Suzy”.

As we learn about the lives and loves of the Wonderettes, audiences will be treated to such classic 50s and 60s songs as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” It’s My Party,” “It’s In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song)” and many more.

The show is directed by Annapolitan and veteran ASGT Director Jerry Vess.  Anita O’Connor serves as the show’s Music Director.  And veteran ASGT performer Peter Crews is the show’s Choreographer.

Tickets for “The Marvelous Wonderettes” are $18.00 each.  A $3.00 discount is available through ASGT’s Eats & Seats program.  For more information, please visit www.summergarden.com.  Tickets are available through the Box Office at 410-268-9212 or online via the website.  Connect with ASGT on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AnnapolisSummerGardenTheatre or Twitter (@ASGTAnnapolis).  ASGT is a non-profit, all-volunteer, outdoor summer theatre in the heart of downtown historic Annapolis.  New volunteers are always welcome.
