Downed Utility Pole Closes Some Arundel Schools.  Downed power lines in Pasadena are clogging up traffic for the Monday morning commute, and the problem has closed five area schools.Westbound Mountain Road at Long Point Road has been closed due to the downed utility pole.WBAL-TV 11 News traffic reporter Sarah Caldwell said traffic is alternating in the eastbound lanes as Baltimore Gas and Electric crews try to repair the power lines. If possible, drivers should use a different route.Meanwhile, five Anne Arundel County schools have been closed due to the problem:Chesapeake High School, Chesapeake Bay Middle School, Bodkin Elementary School, Lake Shore Elementary School, Folger McKinsey Elementary School.

Possible Bin Laden Photos Pose Problems For Parents.  The White House is still wrestling over whether to show images of Osama bin Laden taken after the firefight that killed him and shortly before his sea burial.Government officials who have seen the photos describe them as gruesome. There are concerns over the consequences of making them public.The potential costs of the photos being made public include them becoming a symbol of revenge for bin Laden sympathizers.Some parents are concerned about how to explain the photos to their children as well.Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski said, “I’m going to get a more thorough briefing tomorrow, but right now we need to be prudent; we need not to gloat but really remember that justice has been done.”

Panic Time: Caps One Game Away From Elimination.  Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone scored 24 seconds apart in the third period and the streaking Tampa Bay Lightning beat Washington 4-3 to push the top-seeded Capitals to the brink of elimination in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday night.After winning twice in Washington, the Lightning returned home and rallied to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Tampa Bay can advance to the conference finals with a victory at home on Wednesday night in Game 4.Vincent Lecavalier and Sean Bergenheim also scored for the fifth-seeded Lightning, whose sixth straight postseason win gave them a commanding lead in the best-of-seven series. Tampa Bay hasn’t lost since falling into a 3-1 hole against Pittsburgh in the first round.
