Arundel Residents Warned About Paving Scam. Anne Arundel County police are warning elderly homeowners to watch out for a man accused of offering to pave driveways at one price and charging a much higher fee.Police currently have warrants out for the arrest of Tommy Edward Clack, 39, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.Police said they’ve been made aware of two incidents this month in which Clack went to homes unsolicited and offered to pave the homeowners’ driveways. Authorities said he gave verbal estimates to the homeowners.

Bus With Kindergarten Students Overturns.  Charges are pending in a Queen Anne’s County bus crash that sent 17 children and adults to area hospitals.The bus, filled with kindergarten students headed to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., flipped onto its side around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The Queen Anne’s County Fire Department said the bus overturned at Route 213 and White Marsh Road near Centreville.Police said the driver of a Volkswagen Toureg tried to make a left-hand turn onto southbound 213 and turned into the path of the bus. The bus driver swerved to avoid the crash and hit a utility pole, with the bus landing on its side, police said.

Ruppersberger Views Bin Laden Photos At CIA. Maryland Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger said he has viewed photos of Osama bin Laden that carefully compare images of the al-Qaida leader when he was alive with ones after he had been shot by Navy SEALs. Ruppersberger, the top-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, viewed the photos Thursday at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., for about 20 to 30 minutes. The congressman said “there is absolutely no question in my mind that was Osama bin Laden.”

City Mayor Appoints New Chief Of Staff. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake on Thursday announced the appointment of Peter O’Malley as chief of staff for her administration.O’Malley, the brother of Gov. Martin O’Malley, will oversee the day-to-day functions of city government. The mayor’s office said O’Malley brings a wealth of knowledge and local government experience to the office. He was chief of staff for three years under Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith.”Peter will help deliver results that benefit the people of Baltimore. That is why he is the best choice to be chief of staff in my administration,” Mayor Rawlings-Blake said. “Peter is an effective and proven manager with great integrity who has proven his ability as a public servant.”
