The Bowie Baysox will boldly go where no team has gone before during Star Trek Mania at Prince George’s Stadium Friday, May 20, as the team takes on the Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 p.m.  The event features costumed Star Trek characters, postgame fireworks and the opportunity for fans to pose for photos in front of a backdrop of the final frontier.

Baysox Community Programs Manager Dana DeFilippo helped plan the event.  “Our mascot Louie always wanted to appear in an episode of Star Trek,” DeFilippo said.  “He can hardly wait to meet the costumed characters.  Louie has his phaser set for fun on Star Trek Mania.”

Since the first regular episode of Star Trek debuted Sept. 8, 1966, the franchise has spawned six television series, 11 movies, and nearly countless works of fiction.

Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser grew up watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. “We always have a big turnout for our Star Wars Night,” Kaiser said.  “I hope there are as many ‘Trekkies’ that are going to join me at the game to support our favorite sci-fi franchise.”
