Constellation To Be Bought By Exelon In $7.9B Deal. Exelon Corp. agreed to buy Constellation Energy Group Inc. in a $7.9 billion stock deal Thursday, the latest in a string of acquisitions in the electric power industry.Constellation, based in Baltimore, is the parent of the Maryland utility Baltimore Gas and Electric, which serves 1.2 million electric customers and 630,000 gas customers. It also owns power plants, including three nuclear power stations, in 13 states. It sells power to commercial and retail customers across the country.

BGE Summer Rates To Drop.  Baltimore Gas and Electric customers will soon be able to save some money on their bills.According to the utility, residential customers who get electricity from BGE will see an 11 percent drop this summer, which is down 17 percent since 2009.That amounts to a savings of $300 per year.The decrease takes affect in June.

Funeral Service Held For William Donald Schaefer.  Marylanders spent Wednesday saying their final goodbye to William Donald Schaefer, the longtime Baltimore mayor and former state governor who died last week at 89.A funeral service for Schaefer was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Old Saint Paul’s Church on North Charles Street. A procession with drummers, motorcycles, mounted police and a riderless horse escorted Schaefer’s casket through the streets of Baltimore from City Hall, where people had paid their last respects over two days. Hundreds lined the procession route to Old St. Paul’s Church and clapped as the hearse passed.

Woman’s Body Found On Centreville Farm. The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide in Centreville.Deputies were called to a farm on Ruthsburg Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after a woman reported finding the body of a dead woman.Officials said the woman had suffered from apparent trauma. She was later identified as Lindsey Crispino, 28, of Denton.Police said they are interviewing Crispino’s family and friends.No suspects have been named.
