$1 Million Lottery Ticket Sold In Annapolis. One lucky Maryland Lottery player became a millionaire in the most recent Mega Millions drawing.A $1 million ticket was sold at Quik Mart on West Street in Annapolis, according to Lottery officials.The winner used the game’s “Megaplier” feature to increase the second-tier prize from $250,000 to $1 million in Friday’s drawing. It was the sixth time in 2011 that a second-tier Mega Millions ticket was bought in Maryland, Lottery officials said. (EOA Editor’s Note: it wasn’t me. But if it was a friend, can I borrow $20 for lunch?)

2 Dead After Boat Capsizes In Chesapeake Bay.  Authorities said two Pennsylvania men have died and two were injured after a fishing boat capsized in the Chesapeake Bay.Sgt. Art Windemuth, a spokesman for the Maryland Natural Resources Police, said the incident happened about noon Friday near Breezy Point in Calvert County. He said the four people involved were taken to Calvert Memorial Hospital, where two died.A family member and a friend identified the two dead men as 67-year-old Stephen Sowers and his brother, 64-year-old John Sowers, both of York County, Pa.

Public Can Help Judge ‘Save The Bay’ Contest. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is holding a Save The Bay photo contest and the public can help judge.The bay foundation is putting selected images online beginning Monday morning for public judging. The photos will be available until May 6. People can vote as many times as they like for a “Viewer’s Choice” award.The bay foundation is holding the contest to promote awareness of conservation issues relating to the bay.

Marylanders Pay Respects To William Donald Schaefer.  Maryland residents are honoring the memory of former Gov. William Donald Schaefer.Schaefer’s casket was carried into the Statehouse in Annapolis on Monday for a public viewing. That was followed by a procession through Baltimore.”Gov. Schaefer was a remarkable person,” Catherine Johnson told 11 News reporter Lowell Melser in Annapolis. “He was a one-of-a-kind person. He was good to us as state employees, and I just wanted to come and show my respect for him today. He was a great public servant.”
