Former Gov. William Donald Schaefer Dies. Marylanders often remember William Donald Schaefer as the irascible “do it now” public servant who was always at the helm of something big.The former governor and Baltimore City mayor died at his home in the Charlestown retirement community around 6:30 p.m. Monday at the age of 89, according to former aide Lainey Lebow-Sachs.Schaefer was hospitalized with pneumonia earlier this month and was released back to his home April 5. The cause of his death is not yet known. Funeral services will be held April 27 at Old St. Paul’s Church in downtown Baltimore.

Annapolis Police Identify Body Found In Woods. Police have identified the body of a man found in a wooded area Saturday.Investigators said the remains were identified as 21-year-old Dior Lee Curtis.Police said Curtis’ body was found near the 1000 block of Primrose Road by a hiker.Officers said his mother reported him missing March 27.Detectives said an autopsy did not reveal any obvious signs of trauma. Police said there does not appear to be any evidence of foul play.

Three Dead In Separate Bay Bridge Incidents. Authorities are investigating a crash on the Bay Bridge in which a man who was knocked 52 feet off the bridge and into the water was killed.Sky Team 11 Capt. Roy Taylor said the incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. about a third of the way up the eastbound span.The Maryland Transportation Authority said a motorist with a disabled vehicle stopped to check on his Honda Accord when it was hit by a flat-bed truck. The Accord then hit the man, sending him over the bridge and into the water, police said.

Naval Academy Weighs Court-Martial In Rape Case.  A U.S. Naval Academy officer is deciding whether a midshipman accused of raping another midshipman should be court-martialed, following a day-long hearing punctuated by the victim’s testimony. Patrick Edmond is accused of raping a female midshipman in October in the school’s dormitory.Following an investigation by the Naval Criminal Intelligence Service, he was charged last month with rape, sodomy and issuing a false statement. Edmond is 19 and from Jackson, Miss. A proceeding called an Article 32 hearing was held Monday at the academy to determine if Edmond will face a general court-martial.
