EVOLVE Chesapeake To Host Open House This Sunday

If you have ever described yourself as a person who is spiritual but not religious, or are simply fed up with the closed minded belief system of traditional religious organizations, there is a new community in Annapolis that is re-imagining what it means to be part of a spiritual tradition.  EVOLVE Chesapeake, a community based on the principles of Creation Spirituality, is hosting an Open House, a special service for Pluralism Sunday and an Ice Cream Social on Sunday, May 1 beginning at 5:00 p.m.

At the Open House guests may speak with members and learn about EVOLVE Chesapeake and their activities such as Community Dinners, Open Arms groups, Chesapeake Pride Festival, Social Justice activities, retreats, music and educational activities.  There will be light refreshments served during this time.

The community service begins at 6:00 p.m., with a celebration of Pluralism Sunday.  According to the Center for Progressive Christianity, Pluralism Sunday is a day set aside to “take steps to tear down the walls of pride and prejudice that often fuel culture clashes, and foster physical violence in our homes, in our communities and in the world.”  While acceptance of other cultures and belief structures is a central theme of EVOLVE Chesapeake, this service will feature readings, prayers and music from several different religious traditions.  Special guest speakers from a local high school will also be present to speak about their work on an inter-generational project.  An Ice Cream Social follows the service and features build your own sundaes with a variety of toppings.

EVOLVE Chesapeake meets at the Friends Meeting House in Annapolis (351 DuBois Lane).  For more information please go to www.EVOLVEchesapeake.com or call 410-353-5534.  This event is free and open to the public.
