Baysox Respond To Looming Government Shutdown

The Bowie Baysox announce today the team’s reaction to a potential federal government shutdown.  If a new federal budget is not agreed upon and signed into law by President Obama by midnight Friday night, the Baysox will offer a government shutdown stimulus package.

If the Baysox stimulus package is put into effect, fans who purchase a regularly priced lower reserved seat ticket to select games for $14 receive $3.80 in Baysox Bucks.  Baysox Bucks serve as cash at Prince George’s Stadium, and can be used at any concession stand, in Louie’s Locker Room, or on additional tickets.  The stimulus package is available for games Monday, April 18, and Monday, May 2.

Baysox promotions manager Chris Rogers lobbied for the event.  “It is fitting that the stimulus package falls on two Mutt Mondays,” said Rogers.  “If a budget is not passed in time, the federal government would be treating local federal employees and military members like dogs.  We chose to offer $3.80 in Baysox bucks because of the proposed $3.8 trillion budget the Republicans and Democrats are currently fighting over.”

The stimulus package offers fans the opportunity to enjoy a day at the ballpark while other local attractions like the national monuments, parks, and the Smithsonian will all be shut down.  The package is only available for tickets ordered online at www.baysox.com with the special offer code “SHUTDOWN” in all capital letters.  The offer does not apply to tickets ordered in person at the Baysox box office or over the phone.  The package is only available until a new federal budget is signed into law.

“We know that a lot of our fans are federal employees,” said Rogers.  “No one wants to see a government shutdown, but we hope that this offer provides some relief for those facing forced furloughs.  I especially encourage everyone to come out for the game on May 2, as the Baysox will be attempting to defeat the Senators.  These Senators may be from Harrisburg and not Capitol Hill, but it should hopefully give our fans some level of satisfaction in this time of frustration and uncertainty.”
