The Bowie Baysox announce today Pie Day at Prince George’s Stadium, Wednesday, April 20, as the Baysox take on the Akron Aeros at 6 p.m.  Pie Day features a special ticket offer that includes a slice of apple pie and the chance for fans to prove who bakes the best pie in Maryland.

Fans can savor the event with a sweet $10 ticket package. The package includes a lower reserved seat ticket and a voucher for a slice of apple pie.  Fans who would like more than one slice of pie or already have tickets for the game may order pie vouchers for $3 per slice.  To take advantage of this offer, fans must order the ticket package and pie vouchers over the phone by calling the Baysox at (301) 464-4880 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (301) 464-4880 end_of_the_skype_highlighting by 5 p.m. Monday, April 18.  Pie is not sold at any concession stand in the stadium.

The Baysox invite fans to display their baking prowess through the team’s first ever pie baking competition.  To enter, fans must deliver an eight or ten inch sweet desert pie in a disposable tin to the Baysox office at the stadium.  Entries must be received between noon Friday, April 15, and noon Sunday, April 17.  All entries should be covered and labeled with the contestants name, address, phone number and e-mail.

The pies are judged by Baysox players, coaches and staff members.  The winner receives four lower reserved seat tickets for Pie Day, recognition on the field before the game and the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game.

Pie Day is celebrated in conjunction with the Baysox annual Pi Day event.  Pi day honors local students who can recite the most places of Pi, the mathematical constant that denotes the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.  The student who can recite the most places of Pi is recognized on the field before the game and wins a prize pack from the Baysox and Widmann Financial Services.
