Traffic Stop Turned Drug Bust In Arnold

On March 25, 2011, at approximately 12:39 a.m., an officer from the Eastern District stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Ritchie Highway and West Campus Drive in Arnold.

During the course of the stop, the officer observed a passenger attempt to drop a plastic baggie on the ground out of the passenger side window. The baggie was recovered and found to contain a substantial amount of suspected crack cocaine. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and one was found to be in possession of paraphernalia. A quantity of suspected marijuana was also located on one suspect. The vehicle, a 1997 Toyota Camry, was seized. In total, 16.4 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,640 was recovered along with 6.5 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $65.
