Eastport, MD –- Come join your friends from The Maritime Republic of Eastport in our annual Celebration of the Anniversary of our Micronation’s secession from Annapolis (and especially the tyranny of Ward One).  In the tradition of the Mardi Gras parade (or Kinky Key West on any day), don your gladdest rags (you will be judged!) for — our own MRE dance party.  Back for the fifth consecutive year, we have the fabulous Little Red & The Renegades to entertain us with their two-stepping, rump-shaking, “can’t sit still” live music.  They’ve been playing this event to capacity crowds that included many out-of-towners mixed in with us East Port-O-Reekins.  Of Little Red’s sound, Austin, Texas, music critic Lee Nichols writes that it’s “…just flat out fun — it’s an exuberant celebration of everything wonderful about American music, with a heavy emphasis on Zydeco and Cajun.  He can easily glide from ‘Bon Ton Roulet’ to ‘Zydeco Beach Party’ to blues, country, conjunto, and back again.”

Check out their Little Red’s MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/littleredandtherenegades

What else? Face painters will help you put on a happy face.  Door prizes, a 50-50, celebrity appearances, and more!  (But no baptisms, marriages, AA meetings, or City Council sessions.  Sorry.)

As a former MRE Premier once said, “You don’t have to be an Eastport-O-Reekin’ to participate in the celebration. It’s like being Italian (?) on St. Patrick’s Day.“
