It Snowed…But. The area’s early spring “snow event” barely qualified. Our Friday and Saturday forecasts for an inch or less of snow for Baltimore ultimately leaned toward “less”. Observers at BWI-Marshall Airport reported light snow falling between 4:00am and 7:00am. It appears that if any of it stuck to grassy areas it melted away soon after sunrise, at least around Baltimore.

AMTRAK Train Strikes, Kills Man.  AMTRAK officials said an 86-year-old man was struck and killed by a train Saturday about a mile north of Penn Station.The regional train was traveling south from Boston to Washington D.C., at about 1 a.m. when the man was struck. AMTRAK said the train was traveling between 50 and 60 mph.Officials identified the victim as Yong So Kim.It was not clear why Kim was in the area at the time of the incident.

Wife Of Former County Executive Facing Charges. Leslie Johnson, wife of former Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson, was formally charged in a corruption investigation that resulted in the couple’s arrest last fall.Leslie Johnson has been charged with destroying a check from a developer.The county council member allegedly tore up a check after FBI agents showed up at the couple’s home in Prince George’s County, according to the FBI.Johnson is facing charges of conspiracy to commit witness and evidence tampering.

Sen. Mikulski Releases Statement On Ferraro Death. Sen. Barbara Mikulski released the following statement regarding the death of Geraldine Ferraro: Geraldine Ferraro was a path-breaking figure. She made an indelible mark on our nation’s history. She was my very dear friend. I will greatly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family at this wrenching time.To understand Geraldine Ferraro, you had to understand where she came from. Both of our parents owned small neighborhood shops. Her parents, Dominick and Antonetta Ferraro, ran a dime store and a restaurant. After the early death of her father, Antonetta went back into the garment industry to support the family. Gerry really felt the premature death of her dad. But she said it also made her tough.
