Man Charged With Arson In 2010 Pasadena Fire

William Macher charged with burning down home in Pasadena, MD

An Anne Arundel County man has been charged with intentionally burning his Pasadena home after an arrest warrant was issued by the Annapolis District Court Commissioner on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.

The suspect, Mr. William Anthony Macher, of 1001 Gladway Road, Baltimore, Maryland turned himself in to County Police on March 30, 2011 at the Eastern District Police Station.  Mr. Macher is being held at the Anne Arundel County Jennifer Road Detention Center on $500,000 bond.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on April 6, 2010 when Anne Arundel County Firefighters were called to the 1900 block of North Ave in the Community of Venice on the Bay for a reported dwelling fire.  The first unit to arrive on the scene reported fire through the roof of the one story single family dwelling.  The subsequent cause and origin of the fire investigation revealed that this was an incendiary or intentionally set fire.

After an extensive investigation, Anne Arundel County Fire Investigators have identified the homeowner, 43 year old, Mr. William Anthony Macher as the person responsible for the fire.  He has been charged with the following:

§ 4-503 – Manufacture or possession of a destructive device (four counts) Felony

§ 6-102 – Arson in the first degree (Felony)

§ 6-103 – Arson in the second degree (Felony)

§ 6-104 – Malicious burning of personal property in the first degree (Felony)

§ 6-106 – Burning with the intent to defraud (Misdemeanor)

If found guilty of these charges Mr. Macher could receive more than 150 years in prison and 1 million dollars in fines.
